What to Wear
One of the biggest concerns regarding the portrait session. Here is a list of a few helpful suggestions to get you started.
-Dress in timeless clothing for your family portrait. Let your age, rather than the clothes you wear, date the portrait. (Please no logos!)
-Keep it simple, one neutral color and one accent color is a good start. Accessories such as jewelry, hats, scarfs, tights, and headbands are a great way to accent a neutral color.
-Coordinate. Everybody in the portrait should wear items that complement each other in color. You do not have to match, but pick 2 or 3 colors but that make sense together.
-Stick to solid and subtle patterns. Large designs and logos tend to distract from a person’s face.
-No white. It is often too bright in portraits and tends to reflect the landscape colors. Tan, beige, and cream colors work great.
-Pick your style. Whether you wear your Sunday best or causal clothing, it doesn’t matter as long as you feel comfortable.
-Don’t stress! You are always welcome to bring an extra outfit.
Things to consider...
-Layers. An easy way to change up your look.
-Shoes. Pick a shoe that blends in with your outfit. Usually a dark shoe works best.
-Accessories. A great way to mix it up.
-Sleeves. Long sleeves often look better than short sleeves.
-Jeans. Jeans are classic and look good on everyone.
